CARTE, ORI, PRIMIERA, SETTEBELLO...

Everyone’s favorite Italian card game returns to Montreal’s Italian Week!
For Italians and Italian-Canadians, Scopa was and is the card game to play at social gatherings.Scopa – which translates as “broom” – is an Italian card game that is played with a standard Italian 40-card deck. The game is played between two to five individual players, or between two teams of two.
Hosted by Italocanadese.com and the Order of the Sons of Italy in Canada, in collaboration with Montreal’s Italian Week, SCOPA @ SEMAINE ITALIENNE DE MONTRÉAL will see teams of two play in elimination rounds over a two-day period on August 16 and 17 in Montreal’s Little Italy until just one team is left – the Scopa champions of 2014.
Be sure to visit the Scopa Tent on St-Laurent Boulevard, between St-Zotique and Dante streets. Even if you are not playing in the tournament, you can still enjoy a friendly hand of Scopa with friends or other festivalgoers.
